Hi Did you pay in cash, or do you pay direct debit if you do then get bank statements to prove that you have paid. I am in dispute with my council they have said that i have not paid my council tax for December and know that i have so i am sorting through my bank statements. Go to citizens advice and they will be able to advise you.
